Flight rules
- In NRT (Tokyo Narita), out KIX (Osaka Kansai). Do not book a return into Tokyo.
- You must fly out of India on the night of 24 Dec. This is not a preference, it is arithmetic: the shortest one-stop India to Japan routing is 15 to 20 hours and Japan is only 3.5 hours ahead, so anything leaving India on 25 Dec lands in Tokyo on 26 Dec and you miss the whole of Day 1. 24 Dec is a Thursday and the good departures are all late evening, so you fly after work and it costs you no extra leave. The trip lead meets you at the airport in the afternoon and we take the train in together. The Tokyo pub crawl starts around 7:30pm, so later arrivals still make it.
- Fly out of Osaka Kansai (KIX) on 2 Jan, any time from late morning. We check out in the morning and head to KIX together.
- Airport transfers are by train, both ends. That is the norm in Japan. Taxis from Narita run 15,000 yen and up, so we do not use them.
- Pickup is between 2pm and 4pm on 25 Dec. Aim to land in that window if you can. Landing earlier is fine, you wait at the airport. Landing much later means you make your own way in and join us for the pub crawl.
Narita or Haneda
We meet you at Narita. Haneda is closer to the city, but on these dates the same routing costs about Rs 17,500 more to land at Haneda, and the transfer only saves around Rs 1,660. Not worth it. If you find a Haneda fare you like, book it, just tell us and you travel in on your own.
